Classes simulate real-life encounters that law enforcement personnel face on a daily basis.  Typical scenarios begin in an interview position and end in an arrest control position. Additionally we look for escape vs. confrontational aspects and armed vs. unarmed responses to attacks.  In short, everything we do focuses on arrest control, defensive tactics, weapon retention, and weapon use.  And since survival is the true testament of knowledge, our student's strive to master life-saving skills rather than memorizing useless Kata or belt/rank requirements.

Our dojo is proudly very different from other martial arts dojos in that we have a unique blend of both very modern methods, as well as very traditional approach to learning and discipline.  In fact, many parallels exist between the overall philosophy of the Ninja Fight Club and the traditions found in Buddhist monk initiation, or Japanese martial arts instruction during the 16th through 19th centuries.  Individuals had to prove their intent and dedication was genuine prior to being considered.  According to Kensho Furuya's  Kodo Ancient Ways , it also showed that the student was ready to learn. The performance of menial, tedious, tasks was considered a crucial step in the breaking down of the ego which, once accomplished, left the individual open and ready to begin training.

In ancient times training was considered quite valuable and in most cases was free. The term “free” is somewhat misleading since there was a definite “payment” involved. Payment was in the form of devotion and hard work both in and out of the dojo.  Patterned after the traditional model there is no monetary fee associated with training.  Rather, potential students of the Grand Junction dojo are asked to volunteer time to maintain the cleanliness of the dojo itself, and also participate in the development and maintenance of a large stone zen garden.  The goal of the ninja fight club has never been to turn a profit, but rather to be the seed of change that transforms the entire community, not only making it safer, but also more closely knit.  Come join us, and together we can change the world!
